Janki Bodiwala has received much praise for her work in ‘Vash’ and ‘Vash Level 2.’ She has not only made fans’ hearts race in Gujarati cinema, but her Hindi film ‘Shaitaan,’ which was a remake of ‘Vash,’ has also gained her popularity in B-Town. Well, the actress who is buzzing the headlines now and then has opened up in an interview with ETimes on her no-dialogue character in ‘Vash Level 2,’ which has made her fans more frenzied.

In ‘Vash Level 2,’ you play a character that has no dialogue, who expresses everything purely through body language. How challenging was it?It was my privilege to play such a strong and intense character. Also, the character doesn’t need dialogues to convey so many emotions. All thanks to our writer-director Krishnadev Yagnik. This character, which I am portraying, is stuck at the same place for 12 years. I wanted it to be visible on my face, so first I started with losing weight and went straight for a crash diet for a month. I’d say that was the most difficult part, as I wasn’t eating any solid foods; I almost lost 6 kgs of weight, and that dullness and shrinking body worked in my favor.I was constantly reminding myself that I am just a mannequin with a little life stuck inside, internally. Otherwise, I just trusted my director, who guided me where I was standing.
How did you ensure that your expressions carried the same weight as dialogues?
I feel it is more about the writing; the way KD sir has written and portrayed this character’s due is brilliant. I personally tried to internalize this situation as much as I could and tried to feel it by putting myself in that situation. It was very depressing but also effective for my character.
How did director Krishnadev Yagnik guide you in bringing this unique performance to life?
I must share this incident in which I made him leave the monitor and requested him to sit straight in front of me. That scene was the final scene of the film. He is a great director. Krishnadev always makes sure to get the best out of his actors.
How does it feel to receive praises from the audiences for your unique performance?
I truly feel humble and grateful. It feels good that the work where you put your heart and hard work reaches people and they appreciate it. I am thankful to all my ardent lovers.Meanwhile, ‘Vash Level 2’ is receiving much love from the audiences, and recently Ajay Devgn shared a post on Instagram calling it a ‘Good cinema.’
